Reception

In Reception the girls follow a curriculum based on the statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework for Learning. The curriculum takes into account the differing starting points of children upon entry into Reception, provides progression towards the EYFS learning goals and beyond.

The curriculum consists of six broad areas of learning:

  1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  2. Communication, language and literacy
  3. Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
  5. Physical Development
  6. Creative Development

The six areas are not regarded as separate topics or units; rather they are integrated across the curriculum and the school day. They are of equal value and are planned carefully to meet the individual needs of each child through a range of stimulating, focused activities which are both adult-led and child-initiated. The girls’ progress is tracked and recorded on individual profiles. Specialist teaching of Music, French, ballet and sport is provided to enhance and enrich the curriculum.
