School Closure

Statement on Fees

31st March, 2020

Earlier today the Chair of the Council, Professor Alison While, wrote to all Queen's College and Queen's College Preparatory School parents setting out the Council's decision regarding fees for next term. The full text of her letter is here but, in summary, the Council has decided to:

  • Freeze fees at their current level while the Covid-19 crisis persists.
  • Provide significant support to parents experiencing financial difficulties, who will struggle to pay full fees for next term. This support will range from offering a staged payment plan, to reductions in fees via a bridging bursary ranging from 10% to 100% of fees, depending on the specific needs of each case. We are aware that in many cases the need for support is likely to last beyond the immediate end of the Covid-19 crisis, and we will continue to help parents accordingly.
  • Use all savings we can make from Government support to help those parents who will struggle to pay their daughters' school fees at this extremely challenging time. We have also stopped all non-essential expenditure for the duration of the crisis in order to maximise the amount of support we can offer.

The Council believes that by targeting support to those families most in need, Queen's will be making the best use of our funds as a charity. We are, therefore, asking all parents who can afford to do so, to pay the full fees for next term.

Parents who need financial support, or who do not need it immediately but believe they might soon, are urged to contact the Bursar, Crispin Morton, on cmorton@qcl.org.uk or 020 7291 7002 as soon as possible.

Any media enquiries should be directed at Alexandra Horner, Director of Communications & Development, on ahorner@qcl.org.uk or 07917 323183.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

19th March, 2020

Queen’s College Preparatory School will be closed from 4.00pm on Thursday 19th March 2020, until further notice, in order to help control the spread of COVID-19.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, and we are very sad to be closing the doors to our wonderful girls before the end of term. However, we do think that now is the right time for everyone to go to the safety of their homes.

A further update regarding our re-opening will be communicated to parents as determined.

We have planned carefully for this eventuality and are using online platforms to enable learning to continue remotely for all pupils.

All staff will be contactable as normal throughout the closure. Please refer to the relevant sections of the school website for contact details as required.
