Kona Bear's Trip to Space

On Tuesday 30th April 2019, a teddy bear version of our school dog, Kona, was successfully sent into space from a remote site in Sheffield. Pupils and parents were able to tune into the live link of the launch to watch the crew from ‘Sent into space’ prepare Kona Bear for her exciting ascent into space. It took roughly two and a half hours for her to complete her mission and she managed to reach a dizzying height of 33km from ground level, capturing some magnificent footage on the way.

The launch is part of the girls’ cutting edge STEM learning programme which covers Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. This project is one of the many ways in which we inspire our girls in STEM subjects and encourages them to consider STEM based careers.
