THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS

Choosing the right school for your child is very important, and we believe that a personal visit is invaluable. We hold a number of Open Days each year which provide prospective parents with an opportunity to see the school ‘in action’ as a general introduction to the school. Details of Open Days are published on our website.** The School welcomes prospective parents and their children at other times by prior arrangement.

Pupils may enter QCPS at any time, but the usual point of entry is at 4 years of age into Reception. As of September 2021, we will also be introducing a new additional form in Year 3 for 7+ entry. Occasional places are sometimes available in other Forms. Please contact the Registrar for details.

Applicants for admission into Reception should register as soon as possible after birth by completing the registration form and paying the non-returnable fee. Parents will be asked to upload a copy of the child’s birth certificate and passport to the school database.

In terms of the Admissions process for Reception entry, prospective pupils will visit the school and spend time with our Reception teachers. During this visit, prospective pupils will undertake informal, play-based activities. This session is not something that parents should worry about or prepare their daughters for; it is simply to ensure that all girls who are offered a place are able to make the most of the opportunities available at QCPS.

Admissions into all other Forms is by a more formal assessment process, details of which can be found in the Admissions Policy.

Queen’s College Preparatory School aims to encourage applications from candidates with as diverse a range of backgrounds as possible. This enriches our community and is vital in preparing our pupils for today’s world. On completion of a means test, a limited number of bursaries can be offered in order to make it possible for as many as possible who meet the School’s admission criteria to attend the school.

Queen’s College Preparatory School welcomes pupils with special educational needs, providing that our Learning Support Department can offer them the support that they require. The School welcomes pupils with disabilities provided that our site can accommodate them. Queen’s College Preparatory School is committed to the equal treatment for all regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation or social background.

Please contact our Registrar, Mrs R Winthrop on 020 7291 0670 or admissions@qcps.org.uk to arrange a visit or if you have any questions regarding the admissions process. You can also book an Open Morning online using the link below.

Parents are advised to contact the Registrar who will be able to provide further information on the current waitlist for each of these year groups.

**Given the Covid-19 situation, we are unfortunately unable to offer in person Open Days during the Michaelmas Term 2020, however we have held three very successful virtual Open Events and we encourage prospective parents to register for upcoming events next term.
