Transition to Queen's College, London

At Queen’s College Preparatory School and Queen’s College, London we value our girls and young women greatly, supporting them and preparing them for life in the Senior School and for life at university and beyond. At both schools, every pupil is valued as a unique individual and we place great emphasis on pastoral care as well as academic excellence.

At Queen’s College Preparatory School we know our girls extremely well, both academically and pastorally. We recognise that the transition to Senior School is a big milestone in our girls’ lives and our careful preparations help to ensure a smooth transition.

The entrance criteria for Queen’s College, London are necessarily rigorous to ensure that each girl is able to access the curriculum and thrive. However, increasingly close links between the Prep and Senior schools, together with developments in ongoing assessment in the Prep School, mean that we now have enough information to know well before Form VI whether or not a QCPS pupil is likely to thrive at QCL. Therefore the significant majority of QCPS pupils will be able to transfer to Queen’s College, London without the need to take the 11+ examination for entry to QCL from September 2020. For those girls who choose this route, we will be able to offer a seamless transition that will enable the girls to focus on making the most of all Form VI has to offer without the inevitable pressure of entrance examinations.

Whilst we hope that many of our girls will take the opportunity to progress to Queen’s College, London we understand that it might not be right for every girl and we will continue to fully prepare our girls for entry to all Senior Schools and support those families who make other choices.
